Theater Reservation Policy

Reserved Event

The theater has a limited degree of availability during the day between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Public performance rights must be secured for any movie shown in the theater. Reservation requests should be submitted to Amie Runk.

Co-Sponsored Event

Organizations may have evening screenings as part of the schedule at the discretion of the Film Committee programmers and ASLC Program Manager with the approval of the ASLC Executive Board. Typically resources, financial and otherwise, are shared between the two co-sponsoring groups. Legal public performance rights must be secured for every film shown in the Student Life Cinema. Student Life Cinema. Organizational representatives (holding a leadership position within the group) may complete a film co-sponsorship request in Nole Central to apply for a co-sponsored event. The Film Committee plans the schedule well in advance, so co-sponsorship requests must be submitted several months before the proposed screening date. For additional information, contact Amie Runk.

Planning a Movie Event

If you are planning a movie event outside of the Student Life Cinema, you need to reserve space with Guest Services. If you expect a large audience, we recommend Moore Auditorium or one of the Union Ballrooms. Complete a Special Event Permit from the Student Activities Center. Secure the Public Performance Rights of the film you want to show. Remember, simply having the DVD or Blu Ray does NOT give you the legal right to screen the movie in public. Please refer to the Public Performance Rights FAQ for more information.

The rights for many films are available through Swank Motion Pictures. Search their catalog for the film you want to show, then contact FSU’s rep, Meghan Hunkins at 1-800-876-5577. 20th Century Fox and Dreamworks titles are available through Tracy O’Brien at Criterion Pictures USA. If you have trouble finding the distributor of the film please email Amie Runk. If you will be serving food at your event, you must also submit a food permit which can be found through the Event Permit.
