The Oscar Arias Sanchez Hispanic Honor Society was formed in the fall of 1992 to recognize academic excellence among students of hispanic heritage. the O.A.S.H.H.S. is a scholastic and leadership society that promotes participation in other campus honor societies and works with charitable organizations serving Tallahassee and its neighboring communities.
Membership into the O.A.S.H.H.S. shall be granted to those sophomores, juniors, seniors and transfer students of Hispanic heritage who have attained a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above and who have fulfilled the required service projects.
A formal induction ceremony is conducted every year in the spring semester. To be inducted, a member must attain 20 points during each of the two semesters preceding the induction.
Every inducted member is required to attain at least 14 points per semester in order to remain an active member of the organization. Points are attained by participating in a variety of events that are specified at the beginning of each year.
The Oscar Arias Sanchez Hispanic Honor Society sponsors many activities each semester, including:
O.A.S.H.H.S. members who have attained 20 points per semester have the privilege of receiving a graduation chord and a membership pin. These deserving individuals will be elegible to wear the colors (forest green and gold) and "estola de honor" of the Oscar Arias Sanchez Hispanic Honor Society.
